The new phone is rumored to have a real skate board feel and look to it, even with grip tape on the back. It will most likely also have all the features and improvements that are coming with the Sidekick LX OTA. Which means it should have video recording capability, stereo Bluetooth, additional theme options, video sharing capability, and more. Check back for news on the official release.

Sidekick LX Review

October 29, 2007 – 10:36 am

The new T-Mobile Sidekick LX builds on a lot of improvements that Danger and T-Mobile started making with the Sidekick 3. The T-Mobile Sidekick LX continues to use the same navigation layout as the Sidekick 3. With the same roller ball, send and end keys, as well as x and check keys on the right hand side of the phone. On the left hand side of the phone you will find the main menu jump button as well as the standard menu button which brings up contextual menus. The d-pad now also still works as a speaker. However similar to the Sidekick 3 its not the greatest speaker. On the bottom of the Sidekick LX you will find the volume key, as well as the on/off button. On the top of the phone you will find the left and right shoulder buttons. On the left hand side you will find the USB port for charging, as well as a 3.5mm headset jack. This means that you can plug your regular headphones.

One of the things you may notice about the Sidekick LX is that the screen is not tiny or dull. This is because of the new WQVGA Screen from Sharp. Which means its 240*400 in dimensions. Which is good as the new operating system uses pretty much everyone of these pixels. You will also find that this screen is very easy to read out doors, as it has a very bright backlight. This gives the Sidekick LX a very clear bright picture, and it does this without draining the battery anymore then on past models.

When you flip the phone open it snaps right up and reveals the standard Sidekick keypad beneath. Which means that you get the standard three rows of letters which are off set, a row of punctuation keys plus a space bar, as well as a full row of numbers. The Sidekick LX has also gone back to a rubberized keyboard similar to the old Sidekick 2 keyboard.

One of the upgrades that the Sidekick LX brings is in the messaging application of the phone. The new Sidekick LX finally has the ability to send picture messages, instead of just text messages. There is also a new music play which will still play in the background while using the phone. However about the only other noticeable change is the now 2 mega pixel camera. Which has an updated new interface.

The T-Mobile Sidekick LX has all of the upgrades that we have been waiting for. Its finally slim enough to slip into your pocket, it has a great screen, and just about every other feature that we always wished the Sidekick would have including picture messaging.
